Here's to May

May brings International Workers' Day, my partner and sister's birthdays, and a bit of energy! I have used that energy to finally get some prints made! Scroll down to see/buy/marvel at them.

My partner is a gardener, and we both seem to have the same busy seasons at work. People want to be tattooed at the same time as plants need tending, and I think that's really nice.

This month, paid-tier subscribers can read "The Sperm Bank," a short story about a trans guy at a sperm bank. I paywall this stuff because it's personal, and a thin barrier between my writing and the General Internet feels safer! That said, an earlier version was published online a few years ago. I'm sure if you really wanted to, you could find it.

If you'd like to read more of my work or support what I do in this way, please sign up here. My regular monthly newsletter will always be free.

Prints!

It has only taken me 35 years to get my act together and make some prints, and I am very proud of them! Like many neurodivergent people, I suffer from the inability to see a project through, and I have started so many paintings and files that I never finished. Here are the ones that did! The Golem would also make a very cool tattoo, just sayin.

The 'mini Tattooed Golem' print is A5. 'And I Will Never be Able to Touch You' is A4. Both digital prints on Perlino Cotton Paper.

More of This!

This is where I feature work I’ve done recently that I’d like to do more of. It doesn’t mean repeat designs, but working in a similar style or subject to the feature.

I loved doing this lettering for sweet Jya. I drew on some of the leaves for it to match the shape of a "they" tattoo she has on the other shoulder. I'm really enjoying lettering and would love to do more.

Mutual Aid Request

Each month, I highlight a cause or organisation doing good things that could use more money! I will always donate to whoever I feature.

This month is Palestine Red Crescent, whose mission is to provide humanitarian assistance and health and social services to Palestinians whenever and wherever needed.

What I've Been...

Reading- I finished All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. It was a beautiful book that humanised the experiences of many ordinary people during the Second World War. I'm now halfway through the Faebound Series by Saara El-Arifi, and it's pretty good. High fantasy, woke, mostly well written, not life-changing or super gripping, but a good read.

Watching- The live-action version of One Piece on Netflix is great!

Listening to- am I entering a Nazi Era? Oh dear, this probably says something about my psyche and my need to do something other than cook/clean/childcare/work. Hooked on the Weird Little Guys podcast with Molly Conger, which is mostly about contemporary alt-right and neo-nazis.

That's all for now

I hope you're able to do something you've dreamed of.

I leave you with a picture of my fave babe watering some flowers.

Sian xoxo
