Here's to Spring!

Here's to Spring!

The Daffodils are trumpeting, the snowdrops are lovely, and the tulips are magnificent. My toddler is waking up an hour earlier, but I'm still grateful for the morning light.

This month, I have started dabbling in calligraphy! Inspired by my colleagues at Sacred Art, I've unearthed dip pens, nibs and ink and set off down a long new road of learning. I have been more successful than I expected- scroll down to see the first Hebrew tattoo I've done from my own penwork! I'd love to do more, and I'm offering a £20 discount for similar work if booked within the next two months. Just put the code TWENTYOFF in your booking notes.

This month, paid-tier subscribers can read "Drawing in the Dark," about how I became a tattooer. I paywall this stuff because it's personal, and a thin barrier between my writing and the General Internet feels safer! If you'd like to read more of my work or support what I do in this way, please sign up here.

And don't worry, my regular monthly newsletter will always be free.

New Flash & Wannado's

The greatest challenge I had using dip pens for this flash sheet was not smudging the ink! I have failed in places and will clean up the designs a little digitally before tattooing them. £140-250 depending on size and placement.

More of This!

This is where I feature work I’ve done recently that I’d like to do more of. It doesn’t mean repeat designs, but working in a similar style or subject to the feature.

I loved doing this sweet Hineni for Ash, and I am super proud that I drew up the lettering myself. I'd love to do more! Please fill out my enquiry form to book, and remember to quote TWENTYOFF for £20 off any calligraphy tattoo.

Mutual Aid Request

Each month, I highlight a cause or organisation doing good things that could use more money! I will always donate to whoever I feature.

This month is Queer Yeshiva, which puts on Queer Jewish events and teaches Talmud at an annual retreat in the UK. They are a group close to my heart, and any donations help subsidise low-cost or free places at events.

What I've Been...

Reading- All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. I'm only a third of the way through. It's set in wartime Europe, and the protagonists are the blind daughter of a museum's locksmith and an orphaned German boy with a talent for engineering who is sent to a special Nazi school. It's beautifully written, and I look forward to seeing how their lives connect.

Watching- Shrek.

Listening to- Yakkie's new album 'Kill the Cop Inside Your Head.' So so good. The personal/political subjects are expressed through excellent songwriting, skilled craft, and big energy. Personal favourite songs are 'right of reply,' 'secrets' and 'under the pavement,' though they're all good. Their album release show was the first DIY gig I've been to for ages, and it was great.

That's all for now

I hope you're able to see or smell some flowers, and wake up with a little more ease. I hope you swerve whatever lurgies are going around.

I leave you with a picture of E trekking in a misty Wimbledon Common.
