Tattoo T&Cs
You will need to bring a valid and in date photo ID with you to your appointment
It needs to include your date of birth and a photo, ideally a passport or driver's licence. Our consent form is digital, but we have paper backups in case the digital one doesn't work.
Deposits are non-refundable.
Deposits cover my admin and drawing time, and so are not refundable except in exceptional cases. If you are unwell, get in touch as soon as possible. I usually give one pass at rescheduling due to illness.
You can pay using either cash or a bank transfer
Tips are not expected, but if you do want to tip, cash is preferred.
Let me know if you are bringing someone to your appointment
Let me know in advance if you need to bring someone with you for additional support. It's not an issue, but it helps me plan.
I tattoo at Sacred Art in Stoke Newington.
There are stairs down to the room where I tattoo. If stairs are an accessibility issue for you, let me know at the point of booking, and I may be able to accommodate you elsewhere in the building, as there is a ramp to the upstairs. The toilets, however, may not be accessible- we are working on a full accessibility document for the studio.
Covid Policy
I do a lateral flow test in the morning before I tattoo, and if possible, I would love you to do one before we leave for our appointment. If your COVID-19 test is positive, just let me know straight away via email, and your deposit can be carried over to another date. If mine is positive, we can reschedule, or I will refund you if you want. I do not automatically wear a mask for all appointments, but will happily wear a mask on request- there is a box to check for this on my enquiry form.
Please arrive on time (not too early) to reduce the traffic in our waiting area.
I keep a tight schedule, and if you are more than fifteen minutes late for your appointment, I may not be able to tattoo you.
If you want to use numbing cream, let me know beforehand.
I am happy for you to use numbing cream, but I require you to do a patch test with the exact cream you want to use, 7-14 days before our appointment. Tktx and Emla are brands of numbing cream I've used successfully before.
Please check that a brand is safe and follow instructions properly- you can overdose on Lidocaine, which is an active ingredient in numbing cream, so make sure you know the surface area limit of the product you are using.
It's also quite common to get redness and itchiness with numbing cream, and if we have to cancel the appointment at the last minute because of this, you will forfeit your deposit. Bear in mind that numbing cream can also make skin harder to tattoo, and make the tattoo more likely to need a touch-up.
If you want, I can use Bactine during the tattooing process
Bactine is an antibacterial and antiseptic spray that contains a numbing agent. It only works on broken skin, so I spray it over the skin after outlining the tattoo and let it sit for five minutes before continuing. I find it makes the rest of the tattoo more comfortable for people and carries much less risk of skin irritation than traditional numbing creams. I will explain all this again and offer it to you at our appointment; it's entirely up to you whether I use it.
Moles and Scars
I do not tattoo over moles because it's important to be able to see if they ever change. I am not super experienced with tattooing over scarring and may require a consultation before we book an appointment- just let me know on your enquiry form.
Things I love to tattoo!
Botanicals, script/lettering, medieval stuff & Judaica. But let me know if you have any wild ideas, I may well be happy to make them happen!
Things I do not tattoo
I do not do nationalist tattoos. I do not do Hebrew tattoos for Christians. I will not do culturally appropriative tattoos, including tribal or neotribal tattoos. I am not a fine-line specialist, and do not do realism- please check out my Instagram to get an idea of my style. I currently do not do tattoos on people's faces, palms, or soles of their feet.
Important
- Please shower with antibacterial soap the morning of your appointment.
- Moisturise the area to be tattooed for the week before your tattoo, but not on the day of the tattoo.
- Eat two hours before your appointment, and bring sweets/sugary drinks with you.
- Please do not drink a lot of alcohol the evening before your tattoo.
- Please make sure you are dressed comfortably, and we can easily reach the area to be tattooed (shorts, crop tops)
- Don't wear something too pale and/or precious- it would be a shame if purple stencil transfer stained your wedding dress!
- Please do not go sunbathing or on a sunbed two days before your appointment. If you are sunburnt I cannot tattoo you.
- I cannot tattoo you if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
- Please do not organise an important event straight after your tattoo, sometimes appointments take longer (or shorter) than anticipated.
- Hands and feet are a different texture skin to the rest of your body, this area will often require more than one touch up and never heals as clean as other tattoos, your first touch up will be free, any after this will be charged at my minimum price.
- Colour only linework tattoos (where the lines are done in colour rather than black ink) may fade quicker than black ink tattoos. Your first touch up will be free, but any after this will be charged at my minimum price.
- Every tattoo comes with a free touch up within a year of the origional work.
Pricing: This is a rough guide for how I price my tattoos. I will give you an exact quote before you book in with me. Please note I charge £20-50 extra on top of these prices for custom work.
Tiny tattoo (3-4cm)- £100-120
Small tattoo (5-8cm)-£140
Medium tattoo (10-12cm)-£200
Above this size I will probably book you in for a half or full day sitting.
Please note I may need to book you in for a half day sitting if a medium tattoo is particularly detailed, full colour, or in a more time consuming spot e.g ribs.
Half day sitting-£300
Full day sitting- £500
The deposit I require is £50, plus a £1 booking fee. The deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel late or are a no-show, you will be required to pay another deposit for a new booking. If you are disabled and anticipate that I might need to be flexible due to your health, let me know on your enquiry form. If I am unable to make your appointment, you will be refunded in full, or your deposit will be transferred to a rescheduled date.
